An Irish word for each day

Postby mattcook87 » Mon Jan 24, 2011 3:16 pm

The idea is to teach everyone a new word in the Irish language each day and how to incorporate the word into a sentence.

What is the Irish word for Family?

The Irish word for family is...

family - teaghlach

used in a sentence, it would be...

(Tá mé cuid de theaghlach an-mhór) translated:
I am part of a very large family.

Would anyone like any more words translating? Then feel free to ask.

We'll update it each day.

Today's word:

How do you say "home" in Irish?

"Home" is a easy one to learn. It is translated as:

Baile

In a sentence, it would be as follows:

(Is é mo áit is fearr leat sa bhaile) translated:

My favourite place is home.

Today's Word:

How do you say "Holiday" in Irish?

"Holiday" would be translated as "saoire"

It's really straightforward...

Friend - Cara
